Walk-A-Thon, Pune is the group of like minded peoples who are interested in trekking/walking.

In Pune there are many trekking groups and everyone who is interested in trekking is atleast part of one. This group was formed by such like minded people who are interested in trekking/walking. Yes! there are many walking events as well where many of group people participate. The few important ones that are Lonavala-Pune, Pune-Sinhgad Moonlight Walk every month, Pune-Alandi, Pune-Dehu etc.

The main intention for forming this group was to arrange treks which cannot be done alone and are better if done in a small group. Having small group ensures that the arrangements can be done easily. And one can enjoy it completely.

We meet Every 2nd Wednesday of each Month to plan the future events.

Dajipur

This was the first kind of trek of the Walk-A-Thon group. Earlier group organized many walking events.

Dajipur Forest, It is a small village about 490 km from Mumbai on the road connecting the NH 17 and Kolhapur about 40 km from Radhanagari. Surrounded by rugged mountains and dense forests, this secluded little place is completely cut-off from human habitat. Home to bison, wild deer, chital, gawa and many more spectacular wild animals and birds.

This was Trek/Walk from the dense forest of Dajipur. We the group of 20 peoples (including females) walked from Dajipur to Borbet. It was a hot sunny day but while walking inside forest it felt like one is walking in late evening.

One point which needs to be mentioned that in the group of 20 most of them were aging above 50. The eldest person was of age 72. The forest officer also accompanied us for this. As we were group of 20 we could not locate any animal. But we have seen the latest marks of the animals.

Pune Sinhagad Moon Light Walk

From last many years members from group participate in the walking event i.e. Moon light walk from Pune to Sinhagad.

The Saturday which falls just after Full Moon (Poonirma) members starts Walking event at 1:00PM from Rajaram bridge towards Sinhagad. There are few members are continuing this even if there are only 2/3 of them.

As one is walking in moon light no additional accessories are required. After one reaches base of Sinhagad there event finishes. If one wishes he/she can complete full trek to Sinhagad fort. Even one decides to go top he/she can be back home at Pune by 8:00AM.
